The natural Baths of Segesta

If you are in the town of Calatafimi-Segesta and maybe you want to relax a bit after visiting the famous Temple of Segesta built by the ancient people of the Elimi, the Baths are the place for you. To get there you have to take a dirt road that crosses meadows and vineyards and then continue on foot among the scent of wildflowers, violets and chamomile until you pass a forest of aquatic reeds. The thermal baths built by the ancient peoples who inhabited the area are enclosed between rocky walls of white travertine streaked with pink. In addition to relaxing the body, the heat of the thermal water is useful for curing rheumatic, respiratory and skin diseases and can reach 47 degrees centigrade. The thermal baths are fed by the Caldo torrent whose waters are heated by the intense magmatic activity of the subsoil.
