Andalo Valtellino is a small town in the province of Sondrio. It is located in the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi which makes it a very popular destination for lovers of outdoor excursions. Among the most important buildings we find the Parish Church dedicated to the Immaculate Virgin Mary and dating back to around 1700. Inside there are numerous valuable works such as the painting of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and the statue of San Rocco. Going up the Val Lesina you arrive at extensive meadows used for transhumance where there are numerous mountain huts transformed into summer residences. From here you have a breathtaking view of the valley and you can take long and relaxing walks. The heart of the town is Piazza Giovanni Battista Scalabrini where there is the Town Hall, a church and a monument dedicated to the fallen of the war. The economy of Andalo is mainly based on the processing of wood from the surrounding woods. Typical local dishes are pizzoccheri, sciatt, taroz and polenta taragna with grilled sausages.
