Visit Anghiari

Anghiari is one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of Italy. In typical medieval style, Anghiari is compacted and thickened around walls, stone houses, alleys, stairs, open spaces that give the village an incomparable timeless charm. The village rises 429 meters above sea level and has about 5,900 inhabitants. In the plains in front of the village on 29 June 1440 a famous battle took place which ended with the victory of the Florentine troops over the Milanese ones. To celebrate this historic victory, Leonardo Da Vinci depicted the event in a fresco, but unfortunately the work has been lost. In the Renaissance piazzetta Mameli, where you can reach it by lift from the parking lot, you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view and there is a small state gallery-museum, where you can admire a large collection of old drawings by Anghileri, objects of ancient everyday life , detached frescoes, paintings, all of pleasant entertainment. Finally, the Church of Badia, built around the year 1000, is worth a visit.
