Where: montelupone
(Montelupone)
Genre: culture   nature

Montelupone is a beautiful Marche village in the province of Macerata; located at 272 meters, it has 3500 inhabitants. It overlooks the Potenza river valley and also has an enchanting view of the Adriatic coast. Lying on the hills of the Marche, it is included in the network of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The origins are mysterious, there are various hypotheses but the most accredited one traces them back to the Roman Lippia family. Do not miss the beautiful Porta Ulpiana, in honor of the Emperor Ulpius Trajan, restored in the Baroque period with the addition of a decorative arch. The original arch of the Rivellino, on the other hand, dates back to the 15th century. Interesting is the church of San Francesco, built in 1251, while the interiors were rebuilt in late Baroque style with valuable works by Father Soratini from Bergamo. Do not miss the Franchi park, one of the most fascinating and panoramic places in the country; great for a little relaxation, lulled by the wonderful view of the Adriatic. The park is home to many trees and also a beautiful lookout tower, the Roccellino.
