Trinitapoli: between history and nature

Where: trinitapoli
(Trinitapoli)
Genre: culture

Trinitapoli is a beautiful town of 15,000 inhabitants in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani. In the town there is an air of history, in fact there are traces that trace its foundation back to the Middle Ages. The symbol of the city is the Church of the Holy Trinity which houses a very precious golden urn containing the Sacred Wood of the Cross of Christ. It is carried in procession by the faithful of the city on the evening of Good Friday. Noteworthy is also the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Loreto inside which there are valuable frescoes and a statue of the Madonna to whom the church is dedicated. Heart of the town is Piazza Umberto I overlooked by the Palazzo dei Commendatori di Malta, currently the municipal seat, the Church of San Giuseppe with its splendid bronze door and the Cathedral of Santo Stefano. Trinitapoli is an important archaeological site with numerous and varied finds dating back to the Bronze Age which are kept in the Civic Archaeological Museum. In this sense, a park was also created in the place where the famous hypogea of the town stand. On the other hand, the salt flats have great naturalistic value, where various species of birds such as flamingos find shelter.
