The dark side of Alleghe

Alleghe is a beautiful village in the Dolomite area, in the province of Belluno, but it is known above all for some mysterious murders that took place here between 1933 and 1946. The first dates back to 9 May 1933: the victim is called Emma De Ventura , who works as a waitress in the hotel Il Centrale. Investigators speak of suicide: first she would have been poisoned and then slaughtered. A few months later, another woman died in Alleghe: Caterina Finazzer, newly married to Aldo Da Tos, son of the owner of the hotel where Emma had died. Catherine is found drowned in the lake and there is talk of an accident. Years later, in 1946, the Del Monegos are killed with gun shots, perhaps for the purpose of robbery. Only long after the investigations by the journalist Sergio Saviane and the sergeant Ezio Cesca will lead to discover the real culprits of all those murders. Emma had been killed out of jealousy; Caterina and the Del Monegos because they knew too much about that murder. Those responsible, all members of the Da Tos clan, ended up in prison and confessed in 1964, at the appeal process.
