(Valtrompia)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

Valtrompia is one of the three main valleys in the province of Brescia. It is entirely crossed by the Mella river and is also known as 'La via del Ferro' for the ancient extraction and processing of this mineral. The municipalities that are part of it are many, we can begin to discover it by visiting Tavernole sul Mella, Bovegno and Pezzaze. The first stop is Tavernole sul Mella in an ancient iron oven from the 1400s, which today can be visited with guides explaining how the production of cast iron, a primary asset for the economy of this area, took place. Continuing on, you can visit the sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna in Croce di Savenone, in the municipality of Pezzaze. Place of worship built where the apparition of the Saint to a local young woman, Maria Amadini, took place. In the territory of Bovegno there are the highest mountains of Valtrompia, in particular Monte Crestoso and Monte Muffetto. Furthermore, the village is at the center of an outcropping limestone formation recognized by geologists as 'Carniola di Bovegno'.
