The thermal springs and nature to discover in its most evocative beauty: a tour of Bormio

Where: bormio
(Bormio)
Genre: nature   fun   useful information

In the heart of the Alps, within the Stelvio National Park, stands Bormio, which has always been a tourist resort appreciated both for skiing and for its naturalistic activities, but also for its architecture and history. The nature trails concern not only the National Park, but also the Rezia Alpine Botanical Garden which contains more than 2000 cultivated species and is a place of study and scientific dissemination. The name Bormio seems to derive from the Gallic term 'bormo' with the meaning of 'hot spring' in reference to the other flagship of the area, besides skiing, that is the spa. There are 9 thermal springs, located at different altitudes. The Bagni Vecchi are the oldest baths, in the neighboring area of Valdidentro, surrounded by woods, while at a lower altitude there are the Bagni Nuovi. Piazza Cavour is the main center of the town, surmounted by the municipal tower, and by the collegiate church of San Gervasio e Protasio. In the center of the square is the Kuerc ', a place for public meetings dating back to the 14th century. Another place of interest is the Torre degli Alberti, which over the years has hosted illustrious personalities such as Bianca Maria Sforza and Ludovico il Moro. The tour can end in the best way, that is by tasting the typical dishes of the area such as pizzoccheri, bresaola or polenta, but also the particular Stelvio beer.
