Cantù, city of festivals and fairs

Where: cantu
(Cantù)
Genre: events    culture   nature   fun   folklore

We are in Brianza, in Lombardy, in the land of wood and carnival, we are in the suggestive Cantù, rich in nature and culture. Its origin is very ancient, it is estimated that it was born in the eleventh century, as evidenced by the Parish of San Paolo and the Romanesque church of San Teodoro, dating back to 1200. In the urban area stands the monumental complex of Galliani, which includes the Baptistery and the Basilica, of millenary origins, which alone are worth a visit to the entire city. Characteristic, however, is an event that takes place every year, the International Lace Biennial, in autumn, an opportunity to learn about an ancient art. Each month is full of events, many of which are popular traditions, the first takes place on the last Thursday of January, with the Festa della Giubiana, where the puppet of Giubiana, a local witch, is burned in Piazza Garibaldi. The Canturino Carnival, one of the most important in Italy. There are just as many festivals, such as that of the stewed meat typical of the place held in October, as well as that of the truffle. In mid-August the San Rocco fair, where you can find local and unique handicraft products. Another festival for gourmands is Choc in The City, the chocolate fair.
