The beautiful city of Fiesole stands on a hill a few kilometers away from Florence and can be considered a real paradise for archeology lovers as it was under Roman and Etruscan domination and there are numerous remains that testify to it. Fiesole is a real open-air museum that houses a large archaeological area, just think of the marvel of the Roman theater, which becomes the stage for many theatrical performances in the summer. The beauties enclosed in this small Tuscan treasure are numerous, in the center we find Piazza Mino where the most important historical buildings are concentrated such as the Cathedral of San Romolo and the Bishop's Palace, while going up a small road that runs alongside the Basilica it is possible to reach the Church of Sant 'Alexander. Erected on the Etruscan foundations we find the church of Santa Maria Primerana with a facade of the '500 and going up the hill we reach the Monastery of San Francesco. The town hosts the Archaeological Museum and the Bandini Museum where wonderful Florentine paintings are kept. Finally, there are numerous villas to visit, among the most beautiful are that of the Roseto and that of Tatti, which today has become a center for studies on the Italian Renaissance.
