Journey to Sicily in the village of Erice

Where: erice
(Erice)
Genre: culture   nature

Sicily is one of the Italian regions that needs no introduction, famous for good food, beaches and culture, has to give to the visitor, beyond the famous cities, the medieval beauty of villages such as Erice. Erice, with nearly 30,000,000 inhabitants, is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and is perched on the mountain of the same name at a height of 750 meters. The elevated position allows you to immediately have a wonderful view of Trapani, the sea and the salt pans. The first activity to be carried out is certainly the suggestive and relaxing walk through the paved alleys that connect the houses and the main places of Erice. Among the buildings that can currently be visited and of incredible beauty we find the Mother Church of Erice, a structure built in 1314, which captures the attention and takes the tourist back in time, not far right in front of the church is the bell tower, also it can be visited, probably built as a lookout point. But in the village there are also two other noteworthy churches: The Church of San Martino and the Church of San Giuliano. The walk along Corso 'Vittorio Emanuele' is compulsory, full of particular handicraft and souvenir shops, and it is along the entire street that you arrive at the center of popular life, in the main square of the place, or Piazza Umberto. Another highly visited area of Erice is certainly that of Balio, where there are the gardens, the castle of the same name and the castle of Venus. It seems very clear why Erice is located between the most famous destinations in Sicily and the most beautiful villages in Italy.
