Martinsicuro is a town of almost 16,000 inhabitants in the province of Teramo. The town is located to the right of the mouth of the River Tronto and is famous because the Roman emperor Julius Caesar passed through here. Its name derives from the Spanish captain Martin de Segura who had the Charles V Tower built there. The latter currently houses the archaeological museum 'Antiquarium di Castrum Truentinum' which exhibits important Roman remains. The city has always had a strong fishing vocation but lately tourism is also developing. Particularly popular with visitors are the pier and the coastal biotope. There are also some picturesque religious aedicules scattered throughout the streets of the town. Finally, an obligatory stop is the La Rosa Blu bathing establishment which has very high accessibility for people with mobility difficulties. Here you can taste a typical dish of the cuisine of Martinsicuro that is pasta with anchovy sauce. In addition, this place has a great social function as children with disabilities also work there.
