Genre: culture   nature   wine and food   useful information

Conegliano is a town of almost 35,000 inhabitants in the province of Treviso, located at the start of the hills that form the prologue to the Treviso Prealps, 32 km north of the capital. The city, which covers an area of 36 square kilometers, has a range of potentials from a historical, cultural, artistic and architectural point of view, which, by approaching the environmental and food and wine excellences, make it an indispensable destination for any form of tourism. The origins of the village can be dated to the end of the Roman Empire, when it began to acquire importance thanks to its strategic position halfway between the plain and the Alps and to the subsequent construction controlled by the bishops of Belluno. The most historically interesting places in the center are undoubtedly the medieval castle that dominates the surrounding plain from above, and the Roman-Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata and San Leonardo. Characteristic is also the Piazza Cima, all downhill, the beating heart of the city, used for different kinds of representations. But what makes Conegliano known all over the world is the Prosecco wine, a sparkling white that has all the characteristics, aromas and scents of these hills in which it is produced according to centuries-old rites that are handed down from father to son. Obviously, the typical dishes of the place are the side dish, such as marinated snails, red radicchio with cheese and speck, pasta with borlottini beans, baked veal gannassetta, cod in tecia with fresh polenta and pears cooked in red wine. and cinnamon. All delights that a visitor looking for new sensations for the palate cannot fail to taste.
