Omegna is a Piedmontese town in the province of Verbania known for being the birthplace of Gianni Rodari. The author is celebrated in different ways in the city, not only with themed events but also with a museum (still under construction) and with Parco della Fantasia, a literary and cinematographic theme park. The city overlooks Lake Orta which makes the atmosphere suggestive. Visitors can stroll along the lakefront and stop in one of the many bars for a coffee with a view. One of the five access gates to the medieval city is still visible, Porta Romana or Porta della Valle, from which one could arrive, and still arrive, at the Ponte Antico, built in the fifteenth century, typically medieval with the structure going up and down. Among the religious places we remember the Church of Sant'Ambrogio with the soaring bell tower which is part of the panorama of the city center. Of late Romanesque style, the church is internally Baroque and houses various works such as the altarpiece painted by Fermo Stella da Caravaggio. And finally, the Methodist Evangelical Church which is located on the road to Gravellona Toce.
