In the municipal area there are many historical monuments of great importance, such as the three castles present in the area: the castle of Mammi, the castle of Montanina and the castle of Montecchio Vesponi. The collegiate church of San Giuliano preserves inside a fresco depicting the Lamentation of Christ from 1502, which highlights the monumental and dramatic style of the artist Signorelli. Typical traditional dishes are: Soup and bread, Panzanella, Pappa al pomodoro, Omelette with vitalbe, Chianina steak and Ocio in porchetta. The economy of the city is mainly based on agriculture. In fact, after the reclamation of the Val di Chiana the territory became extremely fertile, resulting in an excellent yield for oil and wine producers. The historic Cantina di Santo Stefano produces wines of Tuscan origin DOP. Senaia wine is the best in the area made with Tuscan and French vines. On the territory there is the archaeological museum which preserves the materials found in the excavation of Montecchio and the sacred Etruscan building under the keep. The Municipal Art Gallery housed in the ancient church of Sant'Angelo, preserves an important nucleus of church paintings, a Cimabuesque Crucifix by the artist Bartolomeo della Gatta and a San Francesco by Margaritone d'Arezzo. Also present are the reliquary bust of St. Ursula and a Holy Cross from the 13th century. Alberto Bruni is a sculptor from Castiglion Fiorentino, who can create beautiful works from wood with a simple knife.
