Vigevano, a wonderful Lombard reality

Where: vigevano
(Vigevano)
Genre: culture   nature   wine and food

Vigevano, surrounded by the luxuriant green woods of Ticino and a few steps from the metropolis of Milan, today opens its doors to tell us its rich history. Its splendor can be traced back to the first half of the 1300s, a time when the Visconti and Sforza families gradually transformed it from a military fortress to an elegant village. Its 'male', with its dirt road and its two 'walkways', represent an example of rare medieval military architectural beauty on which you can still walk there today to appreciate all their imposing beauty. The Torre del Bramante, then, stands austere on its elegant and large courtyard, telling us about an era of splendor continued with the duchy established by Ludovico il Moro, who made the Sforza castle his historic home and epicenter of the Lombard sweet life. The lords of Milan flocked to the Vigevano court, from Leonardo Da Vinci to Bramante, drawing heavily on art, beauty and culture from these places. Today, those same rooms that once housed famous authorities, have become exhibition spaces of the International Shoe Museum, testifying to a golden period of Italian industrial history that saw the birth of the major footwear manufacturers and designers right here, dictating their fashions. . Suffice it to say that the stiletto heel and other shoe models were invented here and subsequently used and worn all over the world. The large and majestic Piazza Ducale, commissioned by Ludovico il Moro, symbolizes the elegant entrance to the Castle and to that city lounge of impressive historical memory. Its urban setting, Renaissance and Baroque at the same time, earned it the nickname of 'symphony on four sides' by Arturo Toscanini. Vigevano today welcomes its visitors with the same medieval austerity and Renaissance elegance. A unique opportunity to savor this town in the province of Pavia in the company of a good glass of wine and a slice of sweet rice from the Moro, recreated with the same recipe created by Beatrice d'Este, wife of that Moro who has given so much and still manages to give to Vigevano.
