Loreto, majestic architecture and breathtaking views

Where: loreto
(Loreto)
Genre: culture   nature   folklore

We are in the Marche region, in the very famous Loreto, a city where religious tourists have been visiting the Holy House of Mary of Nazareth for more than seven centuries. Immersed in the Marche hills, surrounded by hundreds of centuries-old olive trees, it offers a breathtaking view from its hills, both sea and mountain. To reach the city center, a more immersive way is certainly to walk the 330 steps that lead up to the Basilica. Route that includes a stop at the Polish military cemetery and which, once you reach the top of the staircase, gives us a view of the beautiful Renaissance city walls with its four imposing bastions. Once in Piazza della Madonna we find ourselves in front of the majestic Basilica of Loreto, the Apostolic Palace, the Palazzo della Provincia, the Fontana Maggiore and the aqueduct of the Archi. The Basilica, whose construction goes from 1468 to 1755 is in Gothic and Renaissance style, inside, we find the famous Black Madonna frescoed by Federico Zuccari, decorated with valuable bas-reliefs.
