(Bientina)
Genre: culture   useful information

Bientina is a small Tuscan town located in the province of Pisa. In the past it was a port town that today has been able to reinvent itself through furniture craftsmanship. Bientina overlooks Lake Sextum, which today is called Padule di Bientina, where some areas remain invaded by water. Located in the transition area between the Piana di Lucca and the lower Valdarno, Bientina has 8547 inhabitants. To this day it still retains the towers from the Middle Ages and some walls from the late Roman period. It boasts a vast historic center with ancient buildings and houses. There is no shortage of churches to visit, such as the church of San Domenico, the church of Santa Maria Assunta. In the oratory of San Girolamo we find an interesting museum of the ancient history of Bientina. In the district, however, we can see a great urban development. The inhabitants of Bientina are very territorial and lovers of their land, in fact every month they organize village festivals, festivals, various anniversaries and antiques markets.
