The Green Corridor cycle path and the Costa dei Trabocchi

(Costa dei Trabocchi)
Genre: nature   fun   useful information

The Costa dei Trabocchi is a part of the Abruzzo coast named in this way due to the massive presence of the trabocchi: ancient stilts in the sea used for fishing. Today the trabocchi are not all operational, and some have become restaurants or tourist places. The area is very suggestive and it is also possible to cross the coast by bike, to enjoy a breathtaking view by pedaling next to the sea and through a series of municipalities and villages, savoring their beauties. The cycle path is part of the Adriatic Green Corridor project and part of the Francavilla a Mare station. The track is still under construction, so the route is interrupted in some places and then starts again. The municipalities that you cross are: San Vito Chietino, with the oldest trabocco also mentioned by D'Annunzio in the Triumph of Death Torino di Sangro, with the beautiful beach of Le Morge and the many species of birds that occupy it Vasto, which is the most populous city on the Trabocchi coast with a beautiful gulf and the nature reserve of Punta Aderci San Salvo, the southernmost area of the coast with the Mediterranean botanical garden.
