Puglia is among the most visited Italian regions, especially in the summer, but if we generally talk about its splendid beaches, today we discover which are the most famous foods in the area that you absolutely must try. 1) Gnumariddu, lamb entrails in a pork net; 2) Focaccia Leccese, a focaccia stuffed with olives and fried onion; 3) Rustico leccese, crunchy puff pastry filled with bechamel, tomato, pepper and mozzarella; 4) Cocule or meatballs, boiled potatoes with cheese, eggs, mint, garlic, chilli and tomato sauce; 5) Carousel cucumber, called Cuccumarazzo in Salento, is more digestible than normal and sweeter centrioles; 6) Fried octopus, octopus is very common in the recipes of seaside places but fried is a very tasty alternative; 7) Hairy mussels, served fresh from the fish and are a variety that can be eaten raw, with just a splash of lemon; 8) Pasticciotto, is a traditional pastry of shortcrust pastry and custard that is found in almost all of Puglia; 9) Limpets or clams, are found in the rocks touched by the sea on the shore and are consumed directly on the beach as soon as they are harvested; 10) Pizza margherita with fried squid, which mixes the Italian tradition with that of Puglia.
