Around the city of Pistoia and not far away there is a vast natural area surrounded by greenery, mostly mountainous, which is why it is called the Pistoian mountain. In this area there are several villages, some well known, all with medieval features. In all this vast area is the Castello di Sambuca Pistoiese, a fraction of the village of Sambuca, located at the top. Here it is still possible to visit the remains of the ancient medieval castle and the walls that protected it. It is located in via della Francesca which is a road that crosses the gate from which one entered coming from Pistoia and exiting for Bologna. Near the Castle, in this hamlet there were two other concentric walls, one that surrounded the church, now restored, and the square. Castello di Sambuca is part of the FAI sites, it is a protected building together with all the other remains or traces of the medieval complex. In addition to the remains of the castle, it is possible to visit traces of at least a dozen towers, access doors, the wash house, the church, the source and a cistern. In addition to buildings and minor remains. The place is very characteristic and rests on a paving of irregular pebbles and beaten earth, as if to recall the ancient streets and the naturalness in which you are.
