Acqui Terme, a modern and cheerful town, is located in Piedmont in the province of Alessandria and has 19493 inhabitants. It is located in the upper Monferrato on the left side of the Bormida river and is known to many for its thermal baths. Acqui Terme is the city of water, just as the name implies. In corso Viganò we can admire the suggestive Stairs fountain. The main attraction of the city is the recently renovated Piazza della Bollente, where there is a source of sulphurous, boiling and healing water, whose flow rate is 560 liters per minute at 70 degrees centigrade. In the center of the square we find a beautiful octagonal marble shrine created in 1879 by the architect Giovanni Cerutti. Aqui terme is not only famous for its waters but, thanks to the Monferrato vines, also for its doc wines such as Dolcetto, Brachetto and Moscato. Along the Bormida we can admire what remains of the ancient Roman aqueduct among the best preserved in northern Italy, consisting of 15 pillars and 4 arches.
