Todi is located in Umbria, is an area surrounded by green hills and is full of natural attractions, houses with vegetable gardens that are typical here, historic churches and good food. Todi has been declared by an important American university as the ideal city to live and this is because it has a perfect combination of culture, nature, food and quality of life. It became world famous for this reason but Iacopo da Todi, the penitent, had already made the city famous. The fountain of Todi represents the city, with its eagle which is the symbol par excellence. There are two legends about the eagle of Todi, the first says that, while the Umbrians were building the city they stopped on the plain to eat and it is at that moment that L'Aquila took the tablecloth and carried it to the top of the hill, thus giving a clear indication of where it would be best to found the country. The second legend tells of two lovers who spent moments together at the river and at that point an eagle passed, which stole the clothes of the young woman who was forced to run naked to the top of the hill and here together with her lover they gave life to the city. . The church of San Silvestro is an important attraction and contains figures such as Iacopone, Adam and Eve (the lovers) and here a lot of music was composed and the Franciscan movement was born. The church of San Fortunato which houses the crypt of Iacopone, is an example of a Gothic church par excellence. This city is a priceless Italian heritage to be truly proud of.
