What to see in Termoli: the town of Molise between tourism, culture and history

Where: termoli
(Termoli)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

The city of Termoli is a tourist, fishing and industrial center. It is located in Molise, in the province of Campobasso, and overlooks the Adriatic coast. The medieval village is still closed in the walls that separate it from the modern area of the city. The streets of the village revolve around the symbol of Termoli, the Swabian castle, which takes its name from Frederick II of Swabia who ordered its renovation. The Cathedral is also worthy of a visit, imposing and with light colors, in Apulian Romanesque style. The modern part of the city winds along Corso Nazionale, with shops and restaurants, which houses three bronze statues representing: Benito Jacovitti, a famous cartoonist, Gennaro Perrotta, a philologist and translator, and Carlo Cappella. In Termoli there is also the narrowest street in Italy, via Rejecelle, which measures only 41 cm in width. The coast is a seaside destination both for families and for those who want to indulge in sports such as volleyball or windsurfing. Very characteristic are the trabucchi, which can be admired on the sea. These are installations that resemble a stilt house and are used for sight fishing, which is very popular in these areas. Some trabucchi, no longer used, have become characteristic restaurants.
