Moncenisio: between millenary history and enchanted landscapes

Where: moncenisio
(Moncenisio)
Genre: culture   nature

Don't be fooled by its size, much less its population. Although it boasts the smallest number of inhabitants in the whole Region and is one of the smallest Piedmontese municipalities, Moncenisio contains centuries of history carved on its streets; streets along which people of the caliber of Charlemagne and Frederick Barbarossa have passed. This enchanting alpine village was, in fact, a crossroads between Italy and France, when the geopolitical borders were still not well defined and our beautiful country was the object of conquests and post-war negotiations. To welcome you in this splendid mountain setting is an eloquent sign that reads 'please visit our village on foot', a warning to observe today's peace and tranquility of places that for centuries have been crossed by caravans of wayfarers. Dominating the scene is the mountain in all its mighty majesty, a mountain which, however, has been generous in giving this place a unique charm. There is also the presence of the water element in the form of streams, fountains and tanks for watering livestock, whose products are an excellence of the territory and for years have represented one of the main economic resources of the country. Along the Val di Susa necklace you can admire this small but very shiny pearl of authentic all-natural beauty, but don't forget to cross it on foot and in respectful silence. After all, history has passed from here.
