Popoli is a town of 5,000 inhabitants, in the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo, located at 254 meters above sea level. Although it is a center full of art, we want to focus on the naturalistic aspect, inviting you to visit the splendid Regional Nature Reserve. It is located on the slopes of the Morrone Massif, from where you can see both the center of Popoli and its symbol, the Cantelmo Castle. An immersion in nature takes place in the reserve. Here are the underground springs of the Pescara river with its guests, the black duck, the crayfish, the dragonflies, the mallard and the heron. Another watercourse present in the reserve is the Tirino river, which can be navigated by canoe. Inside the reserve there is a pleasant open-air theater used as an equipped area. The floral heritage is remarkable; we remember the downy oak, the mistletoe and the horsetail. As for the fauna, we find animals both in the free state and in enclosures, ranging from the mouflon to the eagle owl, the fawn, ending with the much more dangerous wild boars and wolves.
