The War Memorial of Teglio Veneto

Where: teglio-veneto
(Teglio Veneto)
Genre: events

A monument to the fallen of all wars has been erected in Teglio Veneto, which therefore particularly remembers the soldiers who fought both during the First and Second World Wars. The statue depicts a soldier wearing a helmet and holding a winged victory in his hand. The names of the 63 infantrymen who lost their lives in the siege of Gorizia have been inscribed on this monument, in their everlasting memory. In addition, so that the memories do not really fade, a historical reenactment is held in this town that commemorates that and other battles that were fought in these territories. The initiative is animated by the IV Novembre Association of Schio, because the intent is not so much to keep a single episode alive, but to allow the youngest to know what their ancestors did for the defense of their homeland. It is no longer enough, says one of the members of the Association, only the memory of the grandparents. Now the exercise of memory is necessary, so that those who gave life do not have to lose it again, being forgotten in their supreme sacrifice.
