Novello is a Piedmontese town with a purely agricultural vocation, known for the wine production of Barolo, Dolcetto and Barbera and the cultivation of nascetta. It is located in the heart of the Langhe, and is part of the wine landscape of Langhe Roero and Monferrato recognized as a UNESCO heritage. Tourism is a great resource, mainly linked to the landscape and the food and wine culture. Historically the village was a fief of the Del Carretto family, who built their own castle on the top of the town. The manor is an imposing and scenographic building both externally and internally. It can be reached by crossing some cycle and pedestrian paths, which allow the tourist to cross the nature of the landscape and the vineyards. The ancient medieval tower is still standing today, and over the years it has been inserted into the structure of the parish church of San Michele Arcangelo, dating back to the 16th century, in Baroque style. Same imprint for the church of the brotherhood of San Giovanni. Alongside the famous wines, the typical dishes of the area such as vitello tonnato, agnolotti and ravioli del plin are paired, and finally Cognà, a specialty of the Langhe halfway between sauce and jam. The basis is grape must to which apples and dried fruit, cinnamon and other ingredients are added.
