A fishing village.

(Marta.)
Genre: culture   nature   fun

On a windy day, with the lake jagged by an infinity of small waves, you walk along the shore, in the tree-lined avenue that runs alongside the celestial waters. The colorful houses are placed side by side in a picturesque and welcoming mosaic, which is reflected in the water. You go up the stairs towards the apex of the town reaching the Clock Tower, the symbol of the city. More than 15 m high, it was built in the 13th century and has an octagonal plan, streamlined by the 32 brackets that support the parapet of the roof. Here is the small bell tower to complete the clock. At the entrance, the heraldic sign of the Farnese family, who had possessions and castles in these lands, welcomes us. Choosing another coast you return to the lakefront to admire the Martana island, beaten by the waves. Arched in shape, the island appears green on the slopes and rocky in the upper part where the ruin of the tower stands. Legend has it that Amalasunta, queen of the Goths, was killed there, after which streets and signs are named. The most characteristic part is the fishing village, where the inhabitants spread their nets in the sun and boats of a thousand colors shake their heads and moor to the liveliness of the waves.
