Treviglio is a town in the province of Bergamo, nestled in the Po Valley. The main square is Piazza Manara with the municipal seat present in this place already in the Middle Ages when the city was founded. In the square there is also the Basilica of San Martino, built in 1008, which houses several valuable works of art, but the most important jewel is the polyptych of San Martino by Bernardo Zenale and Bernardino Butinone, considered a masterpiece of the Lombard fifteenth century. . The work is built as if it were a building from which the various saints look out and is a triumph of gold that catches the eye. The Basilica stands out in the center of the town and from the top of the bell tower, the symbol of Treviglio, it is possible to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view sixty meters high. Treviglio is also known as the 'city of tractors' as there is the headquarters of an important manufacturing company, Same, and also a museum that houses various specimens, ancient and modern. Impossible not to stop for a snack while tasting the typical dessert of the town, the Turta de Treì, a round shortcrust pastry filled with butter and almonds.
