The conspirators of Genoa tell.

Where: montoggio
(Montoggio)
Genre: culture   nature   wine and food

On the border between Liguria and Piedmont, along the banks of the Scrivia River, is the village where mountain paths lead to panoramic peaks and where you can taste local products, such as chestnut canestrelli and forty-year-old potatoes. It is a town rich in history, where the Castello dei Fieschi once stood, a family of leaders who had it built in the 15th century. Thanks to an enhancement project, the ruin area has been restored and, with the help of a media link, the characters who lived there and their enemies tell us the story of the Genoa conspiracy. He lived in the Castello Sinisbaldo Fieschi who had three children with his wife Maria della Rovere. Of liberal politics and rivals of the Dorias who ruled Genoa, they took advantage of the degradation of the seaside city, harassed by taxes and despotism, to retaliate. In 1547 his son Gianluigi plotted a conspiracy with the French and went to the port to overthrow the government and change the Constitution, suffered an accident, dying in the fall. His brother Ottobono managed to reach Giannettino Doria and mortally pierced him, interrupting the dynasty. Then the revenge maneuver began and, virtually, the messenger and Olgiati who laid siege to the Castle enter the scene. Among the most panoramic itineraries we remember that of Sant'Agostino, which leads to the summit of Mount Liprando from which it is possible to admire, on clear days, the Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, the Monviso and a large part of the Apennines.
