The water chamber in the Dubarìe house-museum.

Where: rocchetta-nervina
(Rocchetta Nervina)
Genre: culture   folklore

In western Liguria, a few kilometers from the more famous Acquadolce, the small village that descends on the banks of the Barbaira stream is worth a visit. Until the first decade of the 1900s, farmers and breeders of beef cows lived in the stone houses, traders of cuts and tanned skins, since the Middle Ages, throughout the County of Nice. Edoardo Casabarona, passionate about his roots, restored the family home by opening its doors as a museum. The building was structured for tanning, he explains, talking to us on the terrace, with the tools arranged in an ornamental and pleasant order. The craftsman builds, repairs and frescoes his story, with his eyes turned to the world that walks to the door. You are welcome and you can visit the water chamber with a gear that used the fall of the resurgence, to give energy to the tannery. Adjacent, in fact, we see the chamber of the tanks, where the skins were prepared with lime to be able to tan them with vegetable tannins, extracted from the trees. We learn bio-sustainability from Edoardo's ancestors.
