Senales is a town in the province of Bolzano known for its breathtaking natural landscapes and the presence of Lake Vernago and Maso Corto. The lake is of artificial origin created by a dam in 1963 and feeds the Naturno power plant. The municipality is also known because the Similaun Mummy was found in the territory of the homonymous valley, a very important anthropological find found during an excursion by a German couple in 1991. In fact, several mountain paths depart from the lake, one of which leads right at the Senales glacier near which the mummy was found, which is now kept in a museum in Bolzano. Even the body of water can be seen from different perspectives with the loop path that completely surrounds it. Despite the fact that it is artificial, the landscape is extremely suggestive, also due to the presence of a Tibetan bridge and several natural views. By renting a canoe it is also possible to navigate the waters of the lake for an immersive experience.
