Sperlonga is a town on the southern coast of Lazio, a very popular tourist destination for its clean sea and wide, white beaches. The town also boasts the inclusion in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The name is linked to the 'caverns' natural caves very frequent in these areas, and its fame is very ancient. Already in Roman times it was a holiday resort, in fact the Emperor Tiberius owned a large villa here. The sea is the first tourist attraction and being part of a protected area it remains quite preserved, in fact you can also do some diving. The National Archaeological Museum and Tiberius Cave are worth a visit, where you can admire the remains of the villa of Tiberius, still very well preserved, such as in particular the fish farming plant where the fishes were raised and then consumed. The anthem of Tiberius and all the artifacts that were found together with the villa, such as the ship of Ulysses, are very suggestive. Very beautiful to see Torre Truglia, one of the four towers built for defensive purposes by fishermen, which can be visited, is one of the most panoramic points of Sperlonga.
