(Civitella del Tronto)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

We are in Abruzzo, in the province of Lecce and today we are going to visit one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: Civitella Del Tronto. This wonderful village welcomes us, as soon as we arrive inside, with an exhibition of vintage motorcycles, vespas, lambrettas and sidecars. We enter the historic center where we are greeted by the Church of San Francesco, initially dedicated to San Ludovico, founded by Robert of Anjou. For over three hundred years, the sanctuary has been the main center of religious promotion. Strolling through the alleys of the ancient medieval village, we continue our visit by stumbling upon the Monument dedicated to Matteo Wade, commissioned by the Baron of the Two Sicilies in honor of the officer who defended the city in 1806. Again, passing through the Ruetta, the road narrower than the village, which allows the passage of one person at a time, we arrive, first pausing to photograph the Fontana degli Amanti, the Fortress of Civitella del Tronto; one of the most important military works, located at the highest point of the city. Before saying goodbye to Cittadella, we take the path that leads us to the Caves of Sant'Angelo and Salomone, rich in stalactites and stalagmites, rich in history since the centuries of the primitives.
