Stradella, the city of accordion, wine and bread

Where: stradella
(Stradella)
Genre: culture   folklore

Stradella is a medieval village, which stands at a very important crossroads that in ancient times was also occupied by the Celts. The inhabited area is dominated by the building which constitutes its original nucleus, the Rocca di Montalino which is also mentioned in a document issued by Frederick the Barbarossa and which today is used as a private residence. The rest of the historic center of Stradella is very suggestive due to the presence of many prestigious buildings dating back to different eras. We mention for example the church of San Marcello in Montalino, in Romanesque style, still perfectly preserved even, albeit partially, in its internal frescoes. Noteworthy is the civic tower, the only remaining structure of the city-fort built by the Visconti family here in Stradella. However, the city is famous above all for one reason: one of the most important workshops for the construction of the accordion was located here. In fact, you can visit the accordion museum, housed in the same space as the naturalistic museum. The territory of Stradella is devoted to viticulture, so here you can taste excellent wines.
