Carrera autopodistica.

The human-push prototype race takes place every second Sunday in September on the occasion of the Chop Festival. It was a Castellan journalist, Medardo Manara, who proposed the Carrera in 1954 on the wave of the Pan-American one. In the post-war years he set in motion the ideas to revive the country and attract visitors to the festival. From the initial wheelbarrows modified for the race, the current carbon prototypes, subjected to the wind tunnel like the Ferraris, are the result of a year of secret work in the workshops of the participating districts. There is a lot of training and harmony in the competing teams that are both female and male. Cheering, screams, passion and technology come together with zero environmental impact, a utopia that we hope to reach in all other parts of the world. The competition begins in Piazza XX Settembre where the Palazzo Comunale and the Sanctuary of the Crucifix overlook and where the slow life of the Castle is centered with markets, including Christmas and important artistic displays.
