Frosolone is a characteristic village in the province of Isernia. Inhabited even before the Roman period, the remains of the megalithic walls of the Samnite populations are still visible in the area. The mountain that surrounds it is not only exploited for breeding and other economic activities, but also for excursions and trekking routes that attract visitors and enthusiasts. There are many areas also equipped for camping and tourism is mainly based on direct contact with nature and on sport. Among the activities that characterize this town is the knife industry. An activity that has developed since 700, when the king forbade the production of combat blades and the artisans turned to useful tools in everyday life. A still active craft activity, to which a museum has also been dedicated, the Museo dei Ferri Taglienti. Another characteristic museum, located in the historic center, is the Costume Museum, which traces the activity of embroidery and making of ancient clothes and kits. Among the most prestigious places of worship we find: the church of San Pietro Apostolo; the church of Sant'Egidio; the church of Santa Maria Assunta, and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Special mention for the church of San Rocco, at the center of a very important event for the city: the Perdonanza. Traditional festival held every year on August 1st and which has Franciscan origins. Frosolone remains a natural and bucolic village, it is not difficult to come across animals that graze free, especially in summer. Among the typical gastronomic products of the place certainly appear cheeses.
