The Castle of Bardi, the museum sections and the legend of Moroello and Soleste

Where: bardi
(Il Catello di Bardi)
Genre: culture   folklore

Just an hour's drive from the city of Parma, Bardi is a town dominated by the well-known castle also called 'dei Landi'. A monumental fortress built on a rocky outcrop of red jasper. Of very ancient construction, it was built as a defensive structure and then became a noble residence and castle with the Landi family in 1500. Today it is possible to visit the entire castle and in addition to the location itself, there are five museum sections: - the Museum of Valligiana Civilization; - 5 Alpine Rooms dedicated to Captain Pietro Cella, 1st gold medal of the Alpine Corps; - the Museum of fauna and poaching; - the Archaeological Museum of the Ceno Valley. Several legends are linked to the building, the most famous one wants that inside the fortress there is a ghost. It all started in the early 90s when an infrared photo was taken that portrays this individual called the 'ghost knight'. From here a connection was made and this presence traced back to the tragic love affair that saw as protagonists the knight Moroello and his sweetheart, or Mrs. Soleste da Castellana.
