Free climbing in Monteleone Rocca Doria

Where: monteleone-rocca-doria
(Rocca della Regina)
Genre: nature   fun   useful information

The rocky cliffs overlooking Lake Temo form an evocative natural setting that is much loved by free climbing practitioners. The 18 routes set up in 2006 and the nautical activities on the lake meet in the event that takes place in October each year, 'water and rock'. In addition to climbing, athletes and enthusiasts from all over the world also practice kayaking, canoeing and horseback riding. The cliffs are suitable for trekking on the via Ferrata. The village located at the junction point of the cliff with the mountain offers all its hospitality with food stands set up along the streets and musical concerts or entertainment for children in the evening. The name of the fortress is due to the legend that tells of a noblewoman who, in order to escape the enemy, threw herself off the cliff and, although protected by padding, did not survive the fall. In the village, which is very small, you can walk up to the Doria fortress, a ruin of the castle or visit the late Romanesque parish church of Santo Stefano.
