(Sesto San Giovanni)
Genre: culture   useful information

Today we are in the northern Milan area, in Sesto San Giovanni. The name consists of Sesto, to indicate the distance in miles from Milan, along an ancient Roman road that connected Milan and Monza and San Giovanni, an indication introduced starting from 1100, to make clear the dependence of Sesto from the Basilica of San Giovanni in Monza and its territory, the Court of Monza. Let's go and see the main sights of the city. Let's start with the Parco Nord Milano, a peri-urban park that extends for over 600 hectares and within which an artificial lake has been built, Lake Niguarda. Then we meet the Davide Campari Space. The Space is located inside the Campari Group headquarters. Built in 2009 by architect Mario Botta, it is an example of contemporary architecture and redevelopment of former industrial areas. Inside we can admire the Campari Gallery A space dedicated to the art of drinking, a journey into the world of Campari shapes and colors. The city hosts another museum, the Giovanni Sacchi Archive, the museum contains more than 400 models and prototypes of design pieces, thousands of drawings, documents and autographed images. Just outside Sesto, we can stop for lunch in the Rails Breda picnic area, an urban green oasis that offers wide grassy expanses, paved paths, stone picnic tables and benches. Before saying goodbye to this wonderful town, we stop at the Monastery of San Nicolao, a female Cistercian monastery in Romanesque style.
