The magic of Stifone and Mole di Narni

This traveler's tour begins in Stifone, a small village of less than 50 inhabitants that rises on the banks of the Nera river and where it seems that time has stopped. Going along a country road you arrive in a splendid Roman shipyard characterized by turquoise waters and a very popular destination for tourists. The characteristic turquoise color of the Nera river is due to the large amount of minerals that settle inside it. Crossing a bridge you come to a dirt path that was once a railway that connected Narni to Nera Montorio and which after being abandoned has become a path for hiking in the midst of the natural beauties of the place. Sightings of animals such as otters are not uncommon during the walk. The trail goes up to the Mole di Narni, a beautiful body of water that inspired the writer Clive Lewis to write the Chronicles of Narnia.
