Gavardo: medieval village rich in culture and history

Gavardo is a Brescia village in the lower Valle Sabbia. It is surrounded by nature and close not only to large cities but also to Lake Garda. The village has a valuable artistic and cultural heritage, of which the numerous churches testify. In particular, the church of San Rocco and the Church of Santa Maria with the Monastery which are located right in the village. In the various hamlets of the municipality there are other prestigious places of worship such as the parish church of San Lorenzo in Sopraponte, the church of San Giovanni Battista in Soseto, the church of San Giuseppe in Caderuso, and the churches of San Giacomo and San Biagio in Soprazocco. Among the ancient buildings, the former Casa Alberghini is worth a visit, now owned by the Massolini family, dating back to the fifteenth century, which still retains many original elements. Dating back to the Middle Ages is the building called 'Bishop's House' located between Piazza Dei Medici and San Bernardino, near the parish church. The Archaeological Museum of Valle Sabbia has been located here for some years, which houses some findings of fossils dating back to the Quaternary.
