Morphology of Punta Alice

Landing point of the Ionian Sea since ancient times for ships from Greece or the East, the promontory, dominated by the lighthouse, the only one near a beach in Calabria, is recommended for underwater fishing enthusiasts. In fact, after a few meters from the shoreline, the sea sinks to 300 m and slopes off into an abyss of 3000 m. The fishing boats that scan the sea full of fish are small and family-run boats. The lucky exposure favors, for one or the other shore, shelter from the winds, even when they pull strong mistral. The lighthouse is a high octagonal tower, surrounded by maritime pines, making the place even more fascinating. This has been automated and the building, once used as the home of the guardians, dates back to the end of the 19th century. the beach is wide, of a beautiful golden color. The dunes are inhabited by intact Mediterranean scrub and the receptive structures, even if present, have no environmental impact. It can be easily reached from the pine forest paths of the Costa dei Saraceni.
