(Campione D'Italia)
Genre: folklore   useful information

Campione D'Italia is the only Italian city in Switzerland; exclave nestled between Lake Lugano and the pre-alpine mountains, is part of the province of Como in Lombardy, although in reality it is as if it were a Swiss municipality in the Canton of Ticino. This particular stasus was born in 777 when Totone in his will appointed the archbishop of Milan heir to his lands in Campione, practically detaching those lands from the dependencies of the bishop of Como. In 1516 the fiefdom of Campione was saved from the occupation of the Swiss who tore the Canton of Ticino from Lombardy. The Milanese fiefdom ended in 1797 with the French invasion. In these years, Switzerland tried to regain possession of Campione in vain because the Congress of Vienna established that he would remain Lombard, that is, under Austrian dominion until the unification of Italy. In 1848 after the 5 days of Milan Campione asked in vain to move to Switzerland. During Fascism Italy was added to the name and the famous casino was re-founded in 1933. Campione is subject to the Swiss tax and customs regime while security is guaranteed by Italy. The quality of life is very high by combining Swiss efficiency with the Italian lifestyle. Fun fact: the football team participates in the Swiss league.
