Campolattaro is a town in the province of Benevento in Campania, located on the side of the Tammaro river. In one part of the territory a dam has been created which annually accumulates 109,000,000 cubic meters of water. There are numerous art workshops that stand out in the streets of the historic center. Zacchino's art workshop creates installations throughout Italy. The Campolattaro ceramics are handmade and represent the characteristic places of the territory. In addition to modern workings, the typical workings of the centenary tradition such as that of wicker baskets are added. The church of SS Salvatore is a masonry building, has a regular rectangular plan with three naves. Inside the church is finished with white plaster, next to the church there is the bell tower on four levels. The construction is of the XVI. Traditional dishes of Campolattaro are: a 'Mnestra' Mmaretata, butter and eggs, cicirieddi, pancakes with anchovies, rospe, linguine with sea urchins, aubergines with vinegar and lemon surprises. The Campolattaro lake oasis is an area protected by WWF Italy, created in 2003 to protect the ecosystem of the wetland created by the alluvial plain in the valley of the Tammaro river. The oasis is part of the Special Protection Area and is located within the Upper Tammaro River Valley site. The castle is the symbol of Campolattaro built by the Normans and under the Aragonese, which was equipped with circular towers and a courtyard, passing from a defense function to a holiday home for the feudal lords. Campolattaro is home to the Sannio Cultural Center for the Study of Peasant Civilization, equipped with a rich library specializing in local history texts.
