Exploring Torre di Ruggiero

Torre di Ruggiero is a small Calabrian village, which is immersed in the Serre Regional Park. In fact, the immediate district of the country is still purely agricultural. Before entering the old encased, you can admire stone houses that have around cultivated lands and farm animals, especially hens. Unfortunately, even small farmers have many problems, mainly related to the wild animals that infest the area. Above all it is the wild boars that devastate the crops, although in recent years even wolves have begun to be seen. Once you have crossed the bridge over the river, you enter the town of Torre di Ruggiero which appears as a cross-section of a bygone era. The houses are all close to each other, very few cars around. There are several churches, some older and others newer. One of the most evocative views is that of the old fountain, where several taps fill the basin that once had to be used as a wash house or as a drinking trough.
