The city of Udine is rich in Italian art. Udine is definitely a city to visit, there are several monuments and museums not to be missed. But today let's focus on the 5 places to visit for free in Udine. In the first place there are the parks, in fact Udine is full of wonderful parks surrounded by greenery. The Cormor park is one of the green lungs of the city, has an extension of about 30 hectares and is owned by the municipality, inside there is an educational-recreational botanical path. It is possible to cross it on foot or by bicycle using the various pedestrian or cycle paths that are set up. Along the various routes, in addition to the areas equipped for the little ones, there are also areas with gymnastic equipment. Inside the park there is a bar and a restaurant. In second place is Porta Aquileia, the tower of Porta Aquileia was part of the fifth walled circuit of the city, together with Porta Villalta are the only two towers left. The tower housed the house of the caretaker, who had the task of checking travelers and incoming goods, the tower has 4 floors; on the ground floor there was a room kept as a cellar, on the first floor a small room and a kitchen, on the second floor there is only one room, on the third floor there was the lumber yard while on the fourth floor there was access to the roof. The tower was abandoned in 1852 and then in 1960 the restoration work began which finally made the tower open to visitors in 1998. In third place there is the cathedral of Udine, dedicated to Santa Maria Annunziata has a Latin cross interior with 4 chapels, one for each nave. It preserves prestigious works such as the bust of Pope Pius IX from 1858, a wooden pulpit from 1737 and the statue of the Archbishop of 1858 Bricito. In fourth place we find the historic squares, Udine in fact is full of squares with beautiful monuments, statues and historic buildings. In fifth place we find the castle hill, a wonderful place with a suggestive view. Access to the hill is through the arch of Bollani, along the slope that leads to the hill is the Venetian-style castle that currently houses the city's civic museums.
