Here where history was written: Paderno del Grappa

Where: paderno-del-grappa
(Paderno del Grappa)
Genre: culture   nature   wine and food

At the foot of Monte Grappa, wedged between the Piave and the Brenta, stands this delightful characteristic village of the Venetian Pre-Alps which, during the great war of '15 -'18, became the unconscious theater of sad testimonies. Even today, on the top of Monte Grappa, stands the military shrine, a large ossuary containing the remains of twenty thousand or more soldiers who died on the front. At its foot the Vittorio Emanuele III gallery winds its way through which the fate of the First World War was decided. A tunnel that runs for more than a kilometer and which has written the history of Monte Grappa and of the whole of Italy. These places, whose historical importance is precious and undeniable, are visited every year, thanks also to the recovery of some trenches from which the crackling of guns and cannons can still be heard. The history of Paderno del Grappa is undoubtedly high-sounding and linked to the mountain of the same name, however it would be an understatement to dwell on the history written on its ridges since the Grappa has a beautiful natural environment that enjoys a unique microclimate within which a generous flora thrives. Its pastures are also famous from which a prized milk is obtained for the production of excellent cheeses. Its cultural and artistic heritage is also remarkable since Antonio Canova was born a few steps from here and a museum today contains the plaster reproductions of his main works. Another strong point of Paderno are its productions of typical products at km 0, such as the renowned and prized prosecco and the aforementioned cheeses, another flagship of this small village where art, history, tradition and nature come together to give those who visit it a unique experience.
