Scanzorosciate is an Italian town of 10,000 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy; located on the first hilly offshoots of the Orobie Alps, the town was born in 1927 with the merger of the municipalities of Scanzo and Rosciate. The town Scanzorosciate includes five hamlets: Scanzo, Rosciate, Negrone, Tribulina and Gavarno Vescovado. The town has acquired increasing importance in recent years, thanks to the wine producing companies that have promoted the Moscato di Scanzo DOCG and Valcalepio DOC vineyards. The municipality has set up an association called 'Strada del Moscato di Scanzo' aimed at enhancing the naturalistic beauties. The headquarters of the Moscato di Scanzo consortium produces a DOCG product THAT is the only Italian passito red Moscato. The origins of this 100% Italian wine date back to 1300 BC. C; the product since 1993 has experienced an exponential growth, 21 consortium members work to produce and bottle this very good wine. The Moscato festival is the main event of Scanzorosciate, the city becomes a showcase of typical products. The event includes concerts, artistic events and tastings. The district of the lands of the bishopric organizes the system of 15 municipalities of the Bergamo area and embodies a great tradition that embraces the agricultural and productive world. Among the products grown, in addition to wine, also honey and olive trees. The city is home to the only oil mill in the province which is located in the hamlet of Tribulina.
